Senior Software Engineer
Location: Plymouth Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer with strong Java expertise to join a leading technology and professional services organisation, working on complex software development and transformation programmes. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer who can combine strong hands-on development skills with experience across the full software lifecycle, designing and delivering secure, scalable and modern software solutions within Agile environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and deliver bespoke software solutions.
- Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture through to implementation, deployment, training and support.
- Develop full stack applications using Java, TypeScript, JavaScript and React.
- Utilise open-source libraries, frameworks and components to deliver modern software capabilities.
- Build and maintain continuous integration pipelines using tools such as GitLab to monitor software quality and security.
- Deploy software systems across public and private cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.
- Work within Agile-focused teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions across complex projects.
- Engage with clients and senior stakeholders, with opportunities to lead teams and client engagements depending on experience.
- Support the ongoing maintenance, enhancement and evolution of software systems.

Experience You'll Need
- Significant commercial experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java.
- Commercial experience with TypeScript, JavaScript and React.
- Experience working with cloud technologies, particularly AWS and Azure.
- Good understanding of software development, testing and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with CI/CD and tools such as GitLab.
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
- Comfortable working within Agile development environments.
- Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Ability to obtain UK security clearance
