The opportunity
Birchwell Associates is supporting a growing technology business in the search for a Senior Software Engineer. This role will suit an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex product and platform problems while maintaining a strong focus on quality, reliability and delivery.
You will work closely with product, design, data, DevOps and engineering colleagues to build new features, strengthen existing services and help shape the technical direction of a modern SaaS platform.
What you will be doing
- Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
- Deliver new SaaS product features from technical design through to production.
- Improve system performance, reliability, observability and security.
- Work with product and design teams to turn customer requirements into well-engineered solutions.
- Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, deployment processes and engineering standards.
- Support and mentor other engineers while sharing knowledge across the wider team.

What we are looking for
- Strong commercial experience in software engineering, including recent work at senior level.
- Strong Python development skills and experience building production-grade applications.
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs or comparable service interfaces.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, distributed systems and scalable application architecture.
- Experience with databases, automated testing, version control and CI/CD workflows.
- Clear communication and confidence working across technical and non-technical teams.
