True9 is an eleven-year-old, independent technology consultancy based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer (PHP/Symfony) who enjoys working on established, business-critical systems - and taking the time to improve them properly.
Much of our work involves long-lived platforms that have delivered value for years. The challenge comes from improving structure, reducing risk and enabling teams to move faster with confidence.
If you enjoy untangling complex systems, improving legacy codebases without burning them down, and leaving software in a better state than you found it, you'll feel at home here.
What you’ll be doing:
- Writing clean, maintainable and well-tested PHP (primarily Symfony and Laravel)
- Working hands-on with legacy codebases: refactoring, improving boundaries and raising quality
- Owning areas of the platform and improving them incrementally
- Contributing to architectural decisions and refactoring strategies
- Improving developer experience through better tooling, tests and workflows
- Collaborating closely with delivery and QA throughout the lifecycle

Our Saltaire Office
Our office is based in Salts Mill, Saltaire - a historic, light-filled space that's become a natural hub for collaboration, focus and shared problem-solving. We value the energy and connection that come from spending time together, while recognising that remote working remains useful for focused work and flexibility.
This is an important role within the business, working closely with some of our largest clients. We're looking for someone who values spending time with the wider team and can join us in our Saltaire office a couple of days a week.
