Platform Engineering Role

Platform Engineering owns the end-to-end experience of how engineers, investment teams and researchers at Balyasny build, test, ship and run software at scale – from source control and authentication systems that underpin our live trading environments, to the platforms that keep tens of thousands of builds, applications and tasks running reliably across compute providers, and developer acceleration tooling that deeply integrates across engineering workflows.

The primary focus of this role is to design, build and maintain Balyasny’s internal developer platform, with a strong focus on infrastructure, core data services and runtime enablement; anchored on developer acceleration, PaaS and AI-SDLC enablement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build solutions that enable engineers and researchers to accelerate their development processes with agents – from code generation through to testing and deployment.
  • Develop solutions that enable investment teams and researchers to mobilize ideas in minutes.
  • Architect, build, and maintain common software and platform solutions leveraged across the business, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and automation.
  • Contribute to technology-wide engineering standards, frameworks and utilities to drive efficiency and standardization of technology solutions across the estate.
  • Design and automate deployment pipelines and operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer autonomy.
  • Champion SRE and DevOps best practices—including observability, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code—across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, sharing responsibility for production reliability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
