Your Career
Join MHR as a Senior Software Engineer and help evolve a platform used by thousands of organisations across the UK. Working with Java (Jakarta EE/J2EE), TypeScript and Angular, you'll design and deliver scalable enterprise applications while helping shape the future of AI-enabled HR and payroll technology.
This is an opportunity to combine deep back-end engineering expertise with modern front-end development, technical leadership and AI innovation. You'll influence architecture, mentor engineers, and play a key role in adopting AI across both our products and engineering practices.

Your Team
You'll join a cross-functional Scrum team of Software Engineers, Product Managers, UX Designers and Test Engineers, working together to solve complex customer challenges. Our teams embrace collaboration, continuous improvement and shared ownership, giving you the freedom to drive technical decisions and make a meaningful impact.
Your Impact
You'll build and enhance enterprise-scale SaaS applications powered by Java (Jakarta EE/J2EE), while creating modern user experiences with Angular and TypeScript. You'll help define engineering standards, improve platform scalability and support the delivery of AI-driven capabilities that enhance customer outcomes.
AI will be a key part of your role. You'll leverage tools such as GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development technologies to accelerate delivery, improve code quality and explore new ways to embed AI into both our products and software engineering lifecycle.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java (Jakarta EE/J2EE)
- Build modern web applications using TypeScript and Angular
- Design and implement scalable APIs and application integrations
- Contribute to technical architecture and engineering standards
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical coaching
- Collaborate with Product, UX and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Champion AI-assisted development and contribute to AI-enabled product innovation
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with Java and Jakarta EE/J2EE
- Experience with Angular and TypeScript, or strong experience with modern front-end frameworks
- Experience designing and building enterprise-scale applications and APIs
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering best practices and Agile delivery
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar
- Passion for exploring how AI can improve software engineering, productivity and customer outcomes
