Senior Software Engineer

Position: Senior Software Engineer

Type: Hourly Contract (Part-Time)

Compensation: $100–$150/hour

Location: Remote

About the Opportunity

This opportunity is for experienced Senior Software Engineers to contribute to advanced AI research and evaluation projects focused on training and improving next-generation AI systems. In this role, you'll apply your software engineering expertise to create and evaluate Reinforcement Learning environments that test AI models on complex software engineering tasks using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools. Tasks may involve bug fixing, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, performance optimization, and debugging.

No prior AI experience is required. Your software engineering expertise, problem-solving abilities, and experience working with complex codebases are the primary qualifications for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Create and evaluate Reinforcement Learning environments that test AI models on realistic software engineering tasks.
  • Develop tasks involving bug fixing, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, and performance optimization.
  • Design reproducible environments, deterministic verification systems, and reference solutions for evaluating AI performance.
  • Apply expertise in algorithms, data structures, software architecture, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Identify bugs, edge cases, implementation failures, and architectural tradeoffs.
  • Work with Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools and real-world software engineering workflows.
  • Provide structured technical feedback to improve AI coding capabilities, reasoning, and software engineering performance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
