Senior Software Engineer – Robotics
Location: Royston – On-site
Salary: Up to £60,000 + Share Options
The Opportunity
We’re working with an innovative and fast-growing technology business developing advanced robotic systems for real-world applications.
As the business continues to scale, they are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer – Robotics to help take the capability, usability and performance of their robotic systems to the next level.
This is a hands-on opportunity where you’ll be writing software, investigating complex problems and testing your work directly on physical machines. You’ll work closely with product and platform teams, using data, experimentation and user feedback to identify issues and deliver meaningful improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve robotic systems across usability, speed, accuracy and calibration.
- Investigate logs, user feedback, observations and experimental data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Diagnose the root cause of software and system issues before implementing fixes.
- Develop, test and deploy software directly onto physical robotic machines.
- Work closely with Product and Platform teams to prioritise and deliver improvements.
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team to ensure software changes are robust, well-tested and suitable for production.
- Contribute to the development of new functionality and capabilities as the technology evolves.

About You
- Strong experience with C#, or another C-family language.
- Some experience with Python would be advantageous.
- Robotics experience is essential.
- Comfortable working hands-on with hardware and testing software on physical machines.
- Strong analytical and experimental approach to problem solving.
- Able to use multiple sources of evidence, including logs, testing, observations and user feedback, to identify root causes.
- Strong team player who enjoys working closely with product and engineering stakeholders.
- ROS experience is not required.
