📍 Location: 1-day per month in Manchester
đź•’ Type: Full-time
đź’Ľ Level: Senior

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer to lead backend development across multiple client projects. You’ll be responsible for defining architecture, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring our applications are secure, scalable, and easy to maintain.

  • Leading backend architecture decisions across projects, ideally utilising both Laravel and Node.js/GraphQL.
  • Designing and implementing clean, scalable APIs and services.
  • Writing secure, reusable code with a sharp focus on performance and maintainability.
  • Optimising database queries, caching strategies, and data models.
  • Integrating complex business logic and third-party systems.
  • Supporting deployment workflows and infrastructure decisions in collaboration with DevOps (e.g., CI/CD, staging, environment config).
  • Guiding and mentoring junior and mid-level backend developers.
  • Working with Delivery Managers to scope, estimate, and manage backend timelines.
  • Ensuring backend systems meet high standards of security, scalability, and reliability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
