Senior Software Engineer – Search & AI Platform
A global technology and information services organization is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a team developing scalable search, data, and AI-powered platforms.
The role focuses on building intelligent backend services that work with knowledge graphs, search and recommendation systems, and large-scale research and information datasets. You’ll work across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and graph technologies to deliver reliable solutions that support advanced discovery and data-driven applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable graph-based search services and backend applications.
- Build services using Java, Spring Boot, Spring, GraphQL, and GraphQL Federation.
- Integrate databases, web services, and cloud services to support ingestion, storage, and messaging pipelines.
- Work with technologies including Neo4j, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and AWS Parameter Store.
- Develop and maintain robust APIs using GraphQL and REST.
- Apply clean code principles, SOLID practices, architectural patterns, and modern engineering standards.
- Contribute to technical standards and mentor other engineers.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to deliver advanced search and recommendation capabilities.
- Build and maintain reliable cloud-native services using AWS and Kubernetes.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability practices to maintain system reliability and performance.
- Contribute to CI/CD, Agile development, and continuous engineering improvements.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies where they can improve product capabilities and engineering outcomes.

Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in distributed systems, search platforms, or similar environments.
- Proven experience developing scalable backend systems and APIs.
- Strong expertise in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience designing GraphQL and REST APIs.
- Experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including EKS.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including:
- SOLID principles
- Clean code
- Architectural design patterns
- CI/CD
- Experience working in Agile, Kanban, or other iterative development environments.
- Ability to learn and adopt new technologies, languages, and tools quickly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a focus on delivering measurable business value.

- Experience with Apollo Router or advanced GraphQL federation.
- Experience modelling data for graph-based systems.
- Background in search platforms or AI-driven discovery systems.
