About the role
We are expanding our newly established SPM (Sustainability & Physical Markets) team with two AVP-level engineering positions. This is a rare opportunity to join at the outset of a significant build phase, delivering a three-year technology roadmap centred on migrating a legacy .NET estate to Java and re-architecting an existing monolith into microservices. You will have genuine ownership within a small, focused team.
The Java /.NET balance
This is a Java-first role with meaningful.NET exposure. Your day-to-day will be roughly 70% Java, 30%.NET. The Java work is where the platform is heading: new microservices, REST APIs, and data services built on Spring Boot. The.NET work is the legacy estate you'll help migrate, so genuine familiarity with .NET / C# is needed to read, maintain, and safely move those systems across, rather than just a passing awareness.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
