Senior Software Engineer – Digital Assets

Hybrid in London | Competitive Package for Tier 1 Trading Firm

The Opportunity

We're partnered with a leading global quantitative trading and market-making firm that is expanding its Digital Assets Engineering team in London.

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing technology group focused on building and scaling trading systems for cryptocurrency markets. You'll work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to develop low-latency, highly reliable systems that operate in a fast-moving and evolving environment.

The team is continuing to invest heavily in its digital assets platform, offering the chance to influence technology decisions, engineering standards, and system architecture while solving complex technical challenges at scale.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting trading infrastructure for digital asset markets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building trading systems for cryptocurrency markets
  • Developing and maintaining connectivity with major centralised exchanges
  • Collaborating directly with traders and researchers to prototype and deploy trading strategies
  • Improving system reliability through automation, monitoring, and recovery mechanisms
  • Troubleshooting production issues across trading systems and exchange integrations
  • Contributing to platform architecture and technical direction
  • Taking ownership of production services and driving continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We're looking for engineers who enjoy working in highly collaborative, performance-driven environments and have experience building robust, real-time systems.

Key requirements:

  • 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience
  • Strong C++ development experience in production environments
  • Experience working on low-latency, real-time, or distributed systems
  • Previous exposure to cryptocurrency trading platforms or exchange integrations is highly desirable
  • Understanding of networking, distributed systems, and fault-tolerant architectures
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or similar is beneficial
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a pragmatic approach to engineering challenges
  • Comfortable working closely with traders, researchers, and other technical stakeholders
  • Ability to translate complex or ambiguous requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Ownership mindset with a focus on reliability, performance, and continuous improvement
