The role

This company builds the core infrastructure for planet-scale real-time data. They deliver billions of messages daily to millions of devices for major global brands, operating at the bleeding edge of distributed systems. Backed by leading investors, they're solving hard problems in low-latency, high-availability messaging that few others can touch.

You'll join the Pub/Sub team, the technical backbone of the entire platform. This isn't a feature factory; it's a deep dive into core backend services, where you'll own the design, development, and optimisation of systems engineered for extreme reliability and performance. Expect an AI-first engineering culture that demands human judgment as the ultimate quality bar.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The work

  • Design, develop, and deploy core backend services, relentlessly focused on low latency, high availability, and scalability.
  • Drive new functionality and initiatives to scale and improve the Pub/Sub platform.
  • Ship new features, implement performance improvements, and execute the essential maintenance that keeps planet-scale infrastructure reliable.
  • Leverage AI tools for rapid planning, prototyping, and iteration, while retaining full ownership of technical decisions and quality.

What You Bring

  • Commercial, production experience with distributed systems, performance analysis, and large-scale infrastructure.
  • Proven track record building or working with messaging queues and/or pub/sub systems at real scale.
  • Extensive experience with a high-level server-side language; Node.js or Go preferred (a Go-heavy background, e.g. Samsara-style, maps well here).
  • A strong, hands-on coder who can clear a deliberately tough technical bar.
  • Practical experience using AI tooling to accelerate development, coupled with a clear understanding of where human rigour is indispensable.
