The role
This company builds the core infrastructure for planet-scale real-time data. You'll join the Pub/Sub team, the technical backbone of the entire platform. This isn't a feature factory; it's a deep dive into core backend services, where you'll own the design, development, and optimisation of systems engineered for extreme reliability and performance. The work
- Design, develop, and deploy core backend services, relentlessly focused on low latency, high availability, and scalability.
- Drive new functionality and initiatives to scale and improve the Pub/Sub platform.
- Ship new features, implement performance improvements, and execute the essential maintenance that keeps planet-scale infrastructure reliable.
- Leverage AI tools for rapid planning, prototyping, and iteration, while retaining full ownership of technical decisions and quality.
What You Bring
- Commercial, production experience with distributed systems, performance analysis, and large-scale infrastructure.
- Proven track record building or working with messaging queues and/or pub/sub systems at real scale.
- Extensive experience with a high-level server-side language; Node.js or Go preferred (a Go-heavy background, e.g. Samsara-style, maps well here).
- A strong, hands-on coder who can clear a deliberately tough technical bar.
- Practical experience using AI tooling to accelerate development, coupled with a clear understanding of where human rigour is indispensable.
