Senior Software Engineer

About the Team: How We Enrich Everyday Life

You’ll be joining Bauer Media Audio (BMA), Europe’s biggest commercial audio broadcaster, connecting audiences across nine markets with music, stories, and unique experiences that they love. Bauer Media Audio is expanding by establishing an in-house software engineering hub in Manchester. This new hub solidifies Manchester as a pivotal technology centre for Bauer Media Audio, complementing its existing operational locations.

Our new engineering team is built around squads, each addressing a distinct value stream with cross-squad roles shared by experts to support the entire operation. Each squad is led by a Product Manager and a Lead Engineer, both jointly accountable for delivering results within their squad.

Squads operate intentionally as small teams, typically comprising around five to six engineers, ensuring focused, collaborative, and rapid development. We prioritize collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence, working closely with product and technology peers to ensure our platforms meet the evolving needs of the business worldwide.

The Difference You Will Make

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in establishing the technical foundations of this new engineering team by leading hands-on development of infrastructure, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing systems.

You’ll ensure your squad’s work aligns with our technical direction and product priorities, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence. Your impact extends beyond technical domains, helping to foster a diverse, welcoming, and inclusive environment — one that prioritizes psychological safety so everyone can thrive and contribute their best work daily.

Your Role

Build and Deliver

  • Develop and maintain features and services across the platform, taking end-to-end ownership from design through to deployment.
  • Contribute to early-stage prototyping and infrastructure work, helping shape the platform’s foundational solutions.

Shape Technical Direction

  • Contribute to architectural decisions within your squad.
  • Collaborate with your Lead Engineer and product colleagues to ensure work aligns with technical goals.
  • Share your expertise to inform technical choices that keep our platform scalable and future-ready.

Mentor and Support

  • Support the growth of junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge-sharing opportunities that foster collaboration and development.
  • Participate actively in team’s growth, aiding recruitment processes and guiding new engineers to full productivity quickly.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
