A well-established software business with a growing UK client base. The engineering function sits at the centre of the product, supporting a platform used by customers across multiple sectors.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a small, focused engineering team, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. The platform runs on PHP (Laravel), but what matters most is a genuine track record of owning production systems end to end; engineers from other backgrounds are welcome if they can show that and pick up the stack quickly. You'll take ownership of core platform features, working closely with leadership to shape technical direction as the business scales. This is a hands-on senior role with genuine influence over architecture and delivery, not just execution.

What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, building, and maintaining features across the core PHP/Laravel platform
- Working directly with the Head of Engineering to shape technical roadmap and priorities
- Writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code and reviewing the work of peers
- Diagnosing and resolving production issues across the platform
- Contributing to architectural decisions as the platform grows
- Mentoring junior engineers on best practice and code quality
- Collaborating with product and design to translate requirements into technical solutions

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Proven track record of owning production systems end to end, not just shipping code
- Senior-level commercial software engineering experience, PHP or another modern backend language (e.g. C#)
- Comfortable working in PHP (Laravel) day to day, or confident picking it up quickly if coming from elsewhere
- Solid experience with relational databases and query optimisation
- Strong communication skills, this role works closely with senior leadership
What's On Offer
- Salary £60,000 to £65,000 per annum
- Remote working (Quarterly trips to the office)
