Senior Software Systems Engineer | Cambridge | Fixed Term Contract (1-2 years) | 2 days onsite
We’re looking for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to join an innovative R&D team developing the next generation of connected devices.
You’ll play a key role across the full product lifecycle, working at the intersection of systems, embedded software, hardware, RF, connectivity and cloud technologies.
You’ll have significant technical ownership, helping define requirements, shape system architecture, solve complex technical challenges and take concepts through proof of concept, integration and field testing.
Necessary Requirements
Technical:
- BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in systems engineering of multidisciplinary products
- Experience working across embedded systems, hardware, communications and/or RF
- Strong understanding of complex IoT and connected-device systems
- Ability to define and manage system, hardware, embedded, software, ATE and integration requirements
- Experience contributing to system design, technical problem solving, proof of concepts, integration and field testing
- Strong ability to understand complex technical concepts and evaluate different technical approaches

- Comfortable taking ownership and leading technical workstreams within larger projects

Desirable Experience
- Linux development or working within a Linux environment
- C, C#, Java or Python programming
- RF and wireless technologies such as BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE-M or LoRa
- Atlassian tools and/or Azure DevOps
- Backend systems and serverless architectures
- Cloud infrastructure supporting IoT devices
- Agentic AI tools for technical discovery and innovation
