VNI Legal are delighted to be working with one of Scotland’s leading law firms who are recruiting for an experienced Employment Solicitor to join their firm and can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
This is an opportunity to join one of the largest and most experienced legal teams in Scotland but act for clients across the United Kingdom and beyond. The firm has extensive knowledge and expertise in employment law with a mix of experienced legal practitioners (ranked in both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500) HR professionals, legal trainees, and proactive legal support who all bring professionalism, empathy, and ambition to the work they do.
The role will involve:
- Acting as a trusted adviser to clients, delivering strategic and commercially focused employment law advice on a wide range of complex workplace issues.
- Leading the conduct of Employment Tribunal litigation, taking full responsibility for case strategy, pleadings, correspondence with the Tribunal, and client risk management.
- Overseeing the preparation of high-quality evidential material, including taking instructions, drafting and reviewing witness statements, and ensuring consistency with litigation strategy.
- Applying detailed legal analysis to complex and emerging issues, carrying out and directing legal research to support advice, litigation decisions, and knowledge development within the team.
- Representing clients in Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal proceedings, including advocacy at preliminary and substantive hearings, and advising on resolution and settlement strategy.
- Advising on and producing bespoke employment documentation, including contracts, handbooks, policies, and procedures, aligned with clients’ operational needs and risk profile.
- Supporting other departments in relation to non-contentious matters such as TUPE warranties and indemnities on the sale or transfer of a business.
- Delivery of training and workshops to clients and non-clients.
- Active involvement in the business development initiatives of the wider team and the Firm.
