Senior Solution Architect – Sovereign / Private Cloud
Fully Remote UK | £75k + Commission | Potential Flex on Base
We’re working with an established UK cloud and managed technology provider looking to appoint a Senior Solution Architect into its growing Sovereign Cloud practice.
This is a senior, customer-facing role for someone with a strong cloud and infrastructure architecture background who can understand a customer's existing environment and translate it into the right private, sovereign or hybrid cloud solution.
You’ll work with customers from initial discovery and technical workshops through to solution design and proposal, understanding their infrastructure, workloads, virtualisation, storage, backup, disaster recovery, networking and security requirements before defining the target architecture and migration approach.
The role will cover:
- Leading customer discovery, technical workshops and requirements gathering
- Designing private, sovereign and hybrid cloud architectures
- Assessing existing infrastructure, applications/workloads, virtualisation, storage, backup and DR requirements
- Understanding the networking and security requirements needed to connect customers securely into private cloud environments
- Working across Linux-based infrastructure and virtualisation/private cloud platforms
- Producing high-level and low-level solution designs
- Creating technical proposals, bids, tenders and Statements of Work
- Balancing technical requirements with customer budgets and commercial considerations
- Working closely with engineering and project teams through implementation and migration
- Retaining architectural ownership through delivery rather than simply handing over the design

We’re particularly interested in people from a Senior Solution Architect, Pre-Sales Architect, Cloud Architect or Infrastructure Architect background who are comfortable sitting in front of customers, understanding complex environments and designing practical solutions.

Technically, we’re looking for a strong grounding across:
- Private / Hybrid Cloud
- Linux Infrastructure
- Virtualisation
- Storage
- Backup & DR
- Networking
- Network Security
You should be comfortable with the networking involved in cloud architecture, including technologies such as Cisco, firewalls and secure WAN/connectivity solutions, but this is not a pure networking architecture role.
Experience with technologies such as OpenStack or VMware would be particularly relevant, while Proxmox experience would be useful but isn't essential. Kubernetes and wider cloud/security experience would also be beneficial.
The key is having the technical breadth and customer-facing capability to take a complex existing environment and turn it into a commercially viable, secure and supportable cloud architecture.
