We have an urgent contract opportunity for an experienced Senior Solution Architect to lead on a large scale system replacement programme.
What's the role & project?
Project: Separate 2 x legacy core business systems (with different features, capabilities and technology) and replace with a brand new modern AI first SaaS (off the shelf) solution which is fit for purpose to drive the company forward as they continue ahead with their growth strategy.
Role: Working closely with the CTO & Director of Engineering, we are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to:
- Establish a clear view of the current technology landscape
- Define the target architecture
- Represent internal technology interests throughout vendor selection and implementation
- Drive the integration architecture across operational systems, courier applications, optimisation solutions, scanning and measuring technology, third-party platforms, data services, and satellite applications
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and document the current architecture, including two legacy operating systems, Microsoft ESB, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and the wider operational technology landscape.
- Design the target Operations systems architecture, replacing the legacy systems with a scalable Azure-based, event-driven architecture and event bus.
- Own integration architecture across optimisation solutions, courier applications, under-the-roof scanning, measuring devices, SaaS platforms, third parties, and other operational systems.
- Define data architecture and flows, including operational and event-data ingress into Databricks and Microsoft Fabric and integration with analytics, machine learning, and optimisation capabilities.
- Assess how one or multiple vendors would fit within the target architecture and provide technical assurance throughout selection and implementation.
- Review and challenge vendor and supplier designs, ensuring solutions remain secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned to enterprise standards.
- Define the transition roadmap from the current landscape through procurement, implementation, migration, and decommissioning, working across internal technology teams and third-party suppliers to protect long-term platform integrity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
