Want to lead on modern service design and guide how SaaS, integration, and enterprise solutions come to life across a national charity?
Excited by the chance to build and mature a brand-new function and leave a lasting legacy in an organisation putting digital at its core?
StepChange is embarking on an ambitious new five-year strategy with digital innovation at its heart, and we’re looking for a Senior Solution Architect who’s excited to shape that future. In this brand-new role, you’ll bring deep enterprise architecture expertise and solution-level insight to design modern services, guide complex integrations, and influence how SaaS products and workloads are delivered across the charity.
Reporting into the Head of Architecture and Data you will be pivotal in maturing our architectural discipline and enabling truly transformative service design as we reimagine how we support people in problem debt.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take ownership of designing the critical architectural foundations that power our new digital advice journey, shaping detailed solutions across enterprise, business, integration, data, technology, and cloud domains. Your work will focus on a new greenfield architecture landscape, drive the creation of high-quality artefacts, and ensure every decision is grounded in well-considered architectural viewpoints. You’ll play a key role in major programme decisions, support RFP activity for essential capabilities, and champion strong governance through capability identification, architectural design, integration, and application portfolio management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
