The role
We are seeking an experienced digital professional to join our Business Relationship Management team and play a key role in shaping the future of digital services at Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
This influential position provides strategic leadership across Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) initiatives, ensuring project proposals are viable, deliver measurable value and align with organisational priorities and wellbeing objectives. Working closely with Business Groups, you will help define and influence their digital direction by developing and delivering project proposals ranging from simple improvements to complex transformation programmes, supporting and enhancing existing systems, and identifying opportunities for future digital investment.
A central aspect of the role is translating organisational strategies, including digital, recovery and knowledge management strategies, into practical project opportunities that can be considered by the Digital Design Authority. You will work with senior stakeholders across NRW and external partners, including Microsoft, to develop strong relationships and ensure digital initiatives meet business needs. The role also involves analysing technology trends and vendor roadmaps, aligning these with organisational priorities, and influencing DDaT programmes and long-term planning.
Operating within the ITIL framework, you will ensure compliance with NRW governance processes, including the Digital Design Authority (DDA) and Independent Project Assurance Group (IPAG), while promoting continuous improvement and best practice.
Success in this role will depend on excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to engage effectively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders across Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to influence digital transformation across a national organisation and help deliver innovative solutions that support Wales' people, communities and natural environment.
This post is fixed term until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension or permanency.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
