Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Speech Scientist / Conversational AI Analyst to support the migration, testing, evaluation, and optimization of an enterprise-scale Intelligent Virtual Assistant (IVA) built on Google Conversational AI technologies. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in speech recognition, conversational AI, analytics, and customer experience, helping transform legacy IVR journeys into modern AI-powered interactions. This role will partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Data, Risk, and Compliance teams to improve conversational performance, automation effectiveness, and customer outcomes within a regulated financial-services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production audio, transcripts, speech-recognition outputs, confidence scores, and customer utterances to identify ASR, NLU, and conversational performance improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate and optimize speech-recognition accuracy across accents, dialects, languages, audio conditions, channels, and customer segments, while improving metrics such as word error rate, semantic accuracy, intent recognition, entity extraction, task completion, and containment.
  • Develop and refine intents, entities, training phrases, utterance taxonomies, annotation standards, speech adaptation strategies, and routing logic to improve conversational experiences.
  • Design, execute, and maintain evaluation datasets, test suites, and validation frameworks covering standard use cases, edge cases, adversarial inputs, out-of-domain scenarios, and high-risk customer interactions.
  • Assess deterministic NLU, generative AI, hybrid conversational architectures, prompts, grounding, workflow orchestration, and AI behaviors, including hallucination, bias, safety, compliance, and policy adherence.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of conversational failures across speech recognition, NLU, prompts, business rules, integrations, orchestration, and backend systems, translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Support migration of legacy IVR, grammar-based speech systems, and conversational assets into Google Conversational AI platforms, establishing baselines, acceptance criteria, testing strategies, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Lead conversational testing, experimentation, A/B testing, regression testing, pilot validations, performance monitoring, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting to measure and communicate business outcomes.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Analytics, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Privacy teams to deliver secure, compliant, customer-friendly conversational solutions while maintaining governance documentation, datasets, models, releases, and audit artifacts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
