What to Expect
At McLaren Automotive, we never stand still. As we continue to evolve our multi-propulsion strategy and shape the future of high-performance vehicles, we're strengthening our Supplier Quality & Development team to ensure world-class quality across every component, every programme, and every supplier relationship.
We're looking for an experienced Supplier Quality professional to take ownership of a global powertrain supply base, working with some of the most critical components that define the performance, durability and reliability of our vehicles. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex challenges, and are passionate about developing supplier capability, we'd love to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering exceptional quality across our powertrain supply chain. You'll work with suppliers across the world, supporting everything from sourcing and industrialisation through to vehicle launch and series production. Based in the UK with a global remit, you'll partner closely with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams while helping suppliers achieve the standards expected of a world-class automotive brand.
You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on supplier engagement, influencing senior stakeholders, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring every supplier is capable of delivering outstanding results.
What You'll Do
- Manage a global portfolio of powertrain suppliers covering engines, transmissions, cooling systems, exhausts and associated components throughout the full product lifecycle.
- Assess, qualify and develop suppliers to ensure robust manufacturing capability, quality performance and long-term supply resilience.
- Lead APQP and PPAP activities, ensuring successful delivery of new components and assemblies from concept through to production approval.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture across processes including machining, casting, assembly, welding, heat treatment and cooling system production.
- Support programme launches by working closely with suppliers to achieve quality, timing and delivery targets.
- Monitor supplier performance through audits, KPI reviews and governance activities, driving continuous improvement where required.
- Identify risks early, implement effective mitigation plans and lead the resolution of critical supplier issues.
- Develop supplier capability and contribute to the ongoing evolution of McLaren's Supplier Quality & Development function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
