About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Developer to join Lorien’s client, a fast-growing, global-reaching SaaS company. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working from home for most of the week, with only two days onsite in Glasgow or Edinburgh. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading technical initiatives, particularly focusing on SQL development and reporting solutions, to support the company's evolving core platform and product offerings. This position is ideal for someone with proven hands-on experience in SQL, SSRS, and solution configuration, who is eager to lead projects, mentor team members, and contribute to the company's strategic growth.

- Proven experience in software development, specifically in SQL and reporting tools like SSRS.
- Strong understanding of data querying, manipulation, and performance tuning techniques.
- Hands-on experience with solution configuration and low-code development environments.
- Demonstrable ability to lead technical projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff and liaise with external stakeholders.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies and best practices.
- Relevant certifications or degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for solution configurations, leading the implementation and testing of low-code solutions to meet business needs.
- Scope development and testing projects, establishing clear timelines and deliverables aligned with organizational goals.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Mentor team members through code reviews, technical guidance, and performance evaluations to maintain high-quality output.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, to ensure seamless communication and project delivery.
- Oversee release validation processes and ensure the integrity of deployments and updates.
- Promote Agile working practices within the team, participating in daily standups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in SQL development and reporting to enhance team capabilities and project outcomes.
