Senior SQL Server Developer
Salary - £75,000
Location: Fully remote - going into the Oxford office when required
The Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior SQL Server Developer with deep expertise in building high-performance, scalable, and mission-critical database solutions. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes SQL Server, understands data at a granular level, and can solve complex database challenges with elegance and precision whilst ensuring high-level performance and best practices.
While SQL Server mastery is the core requirement, experience with .NET (C#, ASP.NET, EF, or related frameworks) is a strong advantage. You will have the opportunity to work on large-scale, performance-heavy systems in a collaborative engineering culture where technical excellence is valued.
As an experienced developer, you will have worked on a variety of highly available applications and have experience with high volume databases. You will be confident collaborating with engineering teams around the world to design and launch ground-breaking features.
You will have the experience and knowledge to make sound technology decisions and participate in architecture discussions, advocating best practices across the teams you work with. You will act as an example and data leader for less data experienced team members to learn from and have an ability to communicate at all levels with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
