King Edward VII’s Hospital is a 56-bed private hospital in Marylebone with four operating theatres, delivering consultant-led care across elective, day-case, and inpatient surgery.

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our well-established Nursing Team at the prestigious King Edward VII Hospital, working with the vision of delivering excellence in care and providing a culture of continuous learning for a highly motivated and compassionate nursing team.

This would be the ideal role for a nurse wishing to develop and extend both their managerial and leadership experience in clinical nursing. We offer a different approach to private healthcare and offer a variety of specialist treatments and complex procedures, which are simply not available from other providers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

As the Senior Staff Nurse, you will be expected to provide effective clinical leadership of the ward, ensuring that the nursing teams deliver safe, high-quality patient care, by delivering on our leadership strategy:

• To provide visible, inclusive and approachable clinical nurse leadership for nurses, patients and families in the ward areas whilst role modelling and living our values and behaviours, to ensure a positive and consistent experience for all staff and patients.
• Being responsible for managing risk and delivering on the key processes that underpin all services to colleagues, patients and other stakeholders.
• Taking responsibility for achieving our financial targets, through making efficiencies and taking the appropriate actions so we collectively generate a surplus across the hospital.
• Identifying and demonstrating quality improvement initiatives both within our teams and in collaboration with the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse that benefits our patients and colleagues.
• Developing our self, our teams and being supportive and active within inclusive, safe learning culture to underpin our success and growth now and in future years.
• Deputising for the Ward Sister when required.
• Supporting the nursing leadership in the delivery of the key performance and quality indicators and to use the results to inform service and quality improvements projects.
• Promoting awareness and compliance amongst colleagues regarding Hospital policies, procedures, guidelines and standards and national standards including CQC frameworks.
• Carrying out planned care for a group/ ward of patients without direct supervision.
• Maintaining a safe ward environment ensuring Health and Safety guidelines are implemented and adhered to.
• Ensuring the availability of appropriate resources for patient care through controlling ward stock.
• Assisting in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
• Encouraging and supporting nursing staff to undertake personal and professional development.
