Band 6 Senior Staff Nurses - Private Patient Medical Day Unit
We are currently looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Band 6 Senior Staff Nurses to join the Private Patient Medical Day Unit (PPMDU) at the Royal Marsden in Chelsea. We are proud of the great care we deliver at the PPMDU and the integrated model of care that exists with our NHS colleagues, which facilitates the innovative research, diagnosis, treatment, and care that the Royal Marsden provides to all patients.
You will need to be a 1st-level registered nurse with demonstrable previous Oncology experience and experience in the administration of IV medications and chemotherapy. Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are desirable, but full training will be given. In addition, you will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic, and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.

Responsibilities
The Band 6 registered nurse for Private Patients’ (PP) MDU is an exciting role, which enables the delivery of a variety of skills within the outpatient department, Granard House (GH) MDU, and Markus Private Care Centre (PCC), and Infusion (Supportive Therapy) Unit. The main roles and responsibilities include:
- To coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-led care to patients.
- To exercise clinical judgment and decision-making about patient needs in terms of long-term goals or plans.
- To plan, document, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way.
- To assume personal accountability for nursing care delivered to a patient in accordance with the NMC code of conduct. There is an expectation for post holders:
- To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.
- To participate in Trust initiatives around infection control and care quality indicators.
