About Hunterlodge
Hunterlodge is a UK-based, full-service agency with a growing portfolio across Higher Education, B2B and Consumer sectors. We combine creativity, data and a focus on effectiveness to help clients build their brands and achieve commercial results.
Following significant growth, we are looking for a Senior Strategic Planner to strengthen and challenge our thinking. This is a senior, client-facing role with commercial influence and a clear pathway towards senior leadership.
The Role
You will be a brand and communications strategist who understands how audiences discover, evaluate and choose brands in a changing media and digital environment. You will help clients define where to compete, who to prioritise, what to stand for and how to communicate effectively.
Starting with the client’s business objectives, you will turn research, audience understanding and market insight into a clear strategic direction. You will develop positioning, propositions and communications plans that give creative and media teams a shared foundation for their work.
Working closely with the Senior Creative Strategist, media specialists and account teams, you will connect long-term brand building with immediate campaign objectives and help shape our strategic services and approach to effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead brand strategy across key accounts, including market assessment, segmentation, targeting, positioning and proposition development.
- Develop communications strategies that define objectives, audience priorities, messaging, channel roles and the journey from awareness to action.
- Challenge and clarify client briefs before creative and media development, identifying the underlying problem and the most useful strategic response.
- Plan and interpret qualitative and quantitative research, combining audience, competitor, cultural and performance insight into actionable recommendations.
- Develop audience segments, personas, customer journeys and messaging frameworks; work with data specialists to apply propensity analysis where it adds value.
- Partner with media and digital colleagues to connect brand strategy with channel planning, balancing brand building and activation.
- Lead client workshops and regular strategy reviews, proactively identifying opportunities, risks and changes in audience behaviour.
- Shape pitch strategy and new business narratives, contributing to presentations, networking and industry events.
- Evolve the agency’s insight frameworks and strategic services, using AI and research tools with appropriate validation and judgement.
- Define measurement frameworks with media and analytics colleagues, assessing brand, communications and commercial outcomes and applying the learning.
- Mentor colleagues and develop our understanding of youth audiences, while bringing relevant thinking from other sectors into client work.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
