About our Team
The Elsevier Strategy team plays a central role in shaping the long-term direction and growth of the business. Working at the heart of the organisation, the team partners closely with senior leaders across Elsevier and RELX to develop enterprise-wide strategies, evaluate growth opportunities, and lead high-impact initiatives that span multiple business areas. Combining rigorous analysis with strategic thinking, the team helps define future priorities, supports key decision-making processes, and delivers insights and recommendations that influence executive leadership and Board-level discussions. This is a highly visible team where collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to navigate complex business challenges are valued and rewarded.
About the Role
The Senior Strategy Manager works directly with Elsevier's most senior leaders, leading strategy planning across the company, preparing presentations for Elsevier and RELX leadership teams and driving company-wide strategy projects. Reporting to the EVP Strategy, this role is highly visible and offers the opportunity to influence strategic direction, support executive decision-making, and lead high-impact initiatives across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Leading strategic planning for Elsevier's portfolio of businesses, working closely with Finance and the wider strategy team to articulate ambitions and growth priorities.
- Developing mid- and long-term strategic roadmaps, ensuring resources are optimised effectively.
- Working with the EVP Strategy to develop the Elsevier strategy.
- Partnering with Product, Technology, Marketing, Sales, HR, and Corporate Affairs teams to develop strategies and ensure alignment on priorities and progress.
- Articulating Elsevier's strategy narrative and communicating strategic direction and priorities to multiple stakeholder groups.
- Supporting delivery of strategic reports to the Elsevier Leadership Team, RELX Leadership Team and RELX Board, and providing strategic analysis for Investor Relations communications.
- Leading the scoping and execution of strategic projects, including data analysis, market analysis, customer interviews, synthesis of findings, and recommendations.
- Driving cross-Elsevier strategic initiatives, annual strategic review activities, and tracking progress against objectives and metrics.

Requirements
- Ability to lead strategic planning and portfolio-level thinking in a complex organisation.
- Experience developing strategic roadmaps and translating priorities into actionable plans.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including developing executive-level materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including market and data analysis.
- Experience leading strategic projects from scoping through execution and recommendation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Interest in business growth, market opportunities, portfolio strategy, and organisational transformation.
