The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, developing innovative structural solutions, and working collaboratively with clients, architects, and other design disciplines.

You’ll be involved in a varied portfolio of projects across a range of sectors, with the opportunity to take a leading role from concept through to construction.

The role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the structural design and delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
  • Develop efficient and practical structural solutions across a range of materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Manage and coordinate structural engineering projects, programmes, and deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants.
  • Prepare and review calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical reports.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections, and provide technical advice during construction.
  • Contribute to project proposals, fee estimates, and business development activities.
  • Help maintain high standards of technical quality, health and safety, and professional practice.

About you

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Significant experience working in a structural engineering consultancy or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK structural design standards and building regulations.
  • Experience designing structures in a range of common materials.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing projects and working directly with clients.
  • The ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or a clear commitment to achieving chartership, is desirable.
