Structural Design Engineer

Morgan Hunt are working with a UK-wide consultancy to recruit a Structural Design Engineer to join their Glasgow team. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion. You must have strong experience in the design and delivery of building structures and will be confident managing multiple projects, coordinating with clients and design teams, and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate. The role sits within a team responsible for a number of building structures projects - specifically in residential, retail and commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and delivery of a wide range of building projects from feasibility through to construction
  • Take responsibility for the technical delivery, programme, and quality of assigned projects
  • Produce and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Design in a variety of materials including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Coordinate effectively with architects, contractors, MEP consultants, and other members of the design team
  • Attend client meetings, design workshops, and site visits as required
  • Provide practical and cost-effective engineering solutions while maintaining compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Review and oversee the work of graduate and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support
  • Contribute to business development by building and maintaining strong client relationships

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer, or working towards chartership
  • Significant experience in the design of building structures within a consulting engineering environment
  • Experience delivering projects across multiple sectors
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and technicians
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage multiple commissions simultaneously
  • Excellent knowledge of Eurocodes and UK building regulations
  • Experience designing in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software
