Senior Structural Engineer
Location: London
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + annual bonus + pension + additional benefits
Emtech Recruitment are working with an established and forward-thinking engineering consultancy who are looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join their London team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer to work on a diverse range of projects across the UK, including residential developments, refurbishment schemes and high-profile projects. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage planning and concept design through to detailed design, construction and post-completion.
The role will involve working closely with clients, architects and other members of the professional team, attending design team meetings and undertaking site inspections and structural surveys where required.
The Role
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will have a strong all-round structural engineering background and be comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities. You will be expected to take a hands-on approach to design while also contributing to the development of junior engineers and technicians.

Key responsibilities and technical experience will include:
- Substantial UK structural engineering and construction industry experience. Experience within residential development and historic building refurbishment would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience delivering projects within agreed fees and programmes.
- Experience liaising directly with clients and managing expectations throughout a project.
- Competent in the design of superstructures, foundations and geotechnical elements in accordance with current Eurocodes, Codes of Practice and relevant NHBC/BCO criteria.
- Experience specifying common structural materials, including reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, masonry and timber.
- A hands-on approach to detailed structural design, with a strong understanding of Eurocodes and current industry standards.
- Experience with 3D structural design and finite element analysis modelling. Familiarity with Tekla would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients, colleagues and other members of the design team.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IStructE or ICE. Candidates working towards Chartered status or already Chartered are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to mentor and support graduate engineers and junior technicians.
- Experience undertaking independent site inspections, structural surveys and condition assessments.
