FM Conway is currently seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Consultancy Division
We have opportunities for the successful candidate to be based in our London office.
This is a key role in delivering technically challenging highway structures projects, providing technical assurance, supporting client relationships and contributing to the development of our engineering team.
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead project delivery and structural assessments and design solutions, whilst mentoring engineers and supporting their professional development. Working collaboratively with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, you will ensure technical quality, programme, commercial and health and safety requirements are met through proactive and innovative engineering solutions.
The duties of the Senior Structural Engineer will include:
- Leading structural assessments and developing structural design solutions for highway structures and buildings.
- Producing structural designs associated with concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures, including retaining walls.
- Producing technical reports, calculations and design documentation.
- Undertaking design checking and providing technical assurance to ensure high standards of quality and compliance.
- Carrying out inspections and site surveys of highway structures and supporting local authorities with their asset management strategies.
- Managing project programmes, budgets and risks, ensuring projects are delivered to the required standards and timescales.
- Supporting client relationships and maintaining a strong customer focus.
- Mentoring engineers and supporting colleagues working towards professional chartership.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our technical services and delivery methods.
What skills and experience do you need?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer with:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
- Demonstrable experience in highway structures.
- Experience in structural assessments, design and design checking.
- Strong technical knowledge of concrete and steel structures, with experience of retaining walls and other highway structures.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- A strong understanding of NEC3 contracts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to manage project budgets, programmes and risks.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute positively to team performance and actively engage others.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional approach to client relationships.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
