Structural/Civil Engineer - Wind Energy
Elb Recruit is a niche engineering consultancy based in Greater Manchester, specialising in the design and delivery of infrastructure for the renewable energy sector.
The business is looking to strengthen its technical team with experienced engineers who can take ownership of the civil and structural design associated with wind farm developments.
Working across the renewable energy sector, the company provides specialist engineering expertise from early-stage development and feasibility through to detailed design and construction. The Role
We are seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer with strong experience in wind farm infrastructure and, in particular, wind turbine foundation design.
The role is focused specifically on the infrastructure supporting the turbine. You will not be responsible for wind turbine or electrical design.

- Wind turbine foundations and reinforced concrete structures
- Access roads and construction routes
- Crane paths, crane pads and hardstands
- Site drainage and surface water management
- Associated civil and structural infrastructure
The role will involve taking projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, undertaking structural calculations and technical assessments, reviewing drawings and specifications, and working closely with clients, contractors, geotechnical consultants and other engineering disciplines.
You will be expected to take ownership of your technical packages, provide practical engineering solutions and contribute to the optimisation and buildability of designs. There will also be opportunities to support technical proposals, client discussions and the development of the company's wind energy offering.
The Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Significant experience in wind farm / renewable energy infrastructure
- Strong experience in wind turbine foundation design
- Experience with reinforced concrete and structural design
- Knowledge of access road, crane pad and drainage design
- Good working knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant British Standards
- Experience working with geotechnical information and ground conditions
- Experience producing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation
- The ability to manage technical work packages from concept through to delivery
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Chartered Engineer status or a clear route towards CEng would be advantageous
