We are currently seeking an experienced professional
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Structurer, Asset Based Lending.
Global Trade Solutions (GTS) comprises over 4,500 people across more than 60 countries, helping suppliers and buyers with their export and import finance needs. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when we financed commerce between Europe, North America and Asia. This role forms part of the GTS Structured Trade team in the UK, a key home market for HSBC, and is focussed on the structuring and execution of Asset Based Lending (ABL) transactions. HSBC has a market leading presence in the UK ABL market, and we are actively looking to further grow this position across a broad range of deal structures and sectors.
Benefits
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you’ll:
- Support the promotion of ABL in GTS to senior stakeholders in the Global CIB, CMB Large Corporate, Mid-Market Enterprise and Leveraged businesses to ensure a flow of origination and requests for proposals
- Support the GTS Sales team with the origination of ABL transactions and lead deal execution through active engagement in client planning, customer pitches and deal discussions
- Further build the GTS UK ABL proposition by analysing our growth strategy across different customer segments and sectors and refining our proposition as needed to address the ABL market opportunity
- Lead the preparation and negotiation of customer facing documents and indicative term sheets
- Provide the detailed financial benefit analysis and supporting information for each customer request
- Ensure all pitch presentation material is accurate and reliable, and considers the operational and regulatory impact in each geography (as appropriate)
- Provide detailed analysis of ABL market trends, sector knowledge and competitors’ market position on an on-going basis
- Act as a conduit of information between sales, operations and product to allow for standard ABL product documentation to be kept up to date
- Engage and negotiate with HSBC approved legal panel firms when providing ABL solutions to customers – detailed knowledge of ABL documentation is required

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
