The role
London South Bank University is excited to be recruiting for the post of two Senior Student Advisors (one full-time and one part-time - 0.5 FTE). LSBU is committed to enhancing the student experience, enabling student success, and providing high-quality support. The Student Advice Team plays a key role in delivering this support, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the team.
As a Senior Student Advisor, you will provide specialist advice and guidance to students experiencing financial and welfare challenges. Areas of advice include Student Finance entitlement, budgeting and money management, and access to financial assistance through the University's support funds.
The Student Advice Team delivers an empathetic, confidential and non-judgemental service, supporting students facing a wide range of issues including debt, gambling-related harm, risk of homelessness, and broader wellbeing concerns. You will work closely with colleagues across the University and external partners to ensure students receive coordinated and effective support.
The role involves managing a caseload of students, conducting one-to-one appointments, assessing applications for financial support, and contributing to workshops and initiatives that promote financial wellbeing and student success. In addition, you will act as lead advisor for young adult carers, helping to develop and enhance the University's support offer for this important student group.

What You Will Bring
- A relevant postgraduate qualification e.g. information, advice and guidance, counselling skills, teaching, or relevant experience
- An experienced Advisor, and a problem solver with excellent customer service and communication skills, able to deal sensitively with a diverse range of individuals and enjoy working with people
- Highly organised, IT literate and able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Weekend working will be required on occasion to support open days and transition events
