We have an exciting opportunity for a Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at HMP Wealstun, a category C Prison located near Wetherby, Yorkshire. HMP Wealstun is a male prison that focuses on training and education with a capacity of 900 males.
We are seeking an experienced Substance Misuse Nurse / Prescriber to join our prison healthcare team. You will have experience supporting patients with substance misuse needs and, ideally, hold a prescribing qualification. Working as part of a team of four, you will deliver specialist clinics across the prison wings and healthcare department, providing assessment, treatment, medication management, and harm-reduction support.

Hours
- Monday - Friday
- 37.5 hours per week
- 8am - 4pm or full time hours over 4 days
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
- Be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans, and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. You will work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information.
- Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. You will occasionally be required to support dispensing.
- Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person-centred approach.

Required qualifications:
- Registered nurse with current NMC Adult
- Prescribing qualification - Essential
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
- Experience of working with opiate dependant patients.
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
Ideal candidates would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
