Role Purpose
As a Senior Technical Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Fleet Management with the oversight and resolution of vessels’ technical operations. This position is central to ensuring the highest standards of safety, technical reliability, and operational excellence of our fleet. Acting on behalf of ship owners, you will support daily decision-making with thoughtful input, helping improve fleet performance and contribute to Oceonix’s commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), operating expenses, and budget adherence to ensure the commercial viability of the assigned fleet.
- Maintain active and effective communication with vessels, technical managers, manufacturers, and service providers to support efficient operations.
- Provide proactive technical support for vessel machinery and equipment, both remotely and onboard, to minimise downtime and manage urgent incidents.
- Conduct and oversee vessel inspections and reporting, including vetting procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
- Negotiate repair costs and contractual terms to ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Participate actively in the Emergency Response Team, contributing to crisis management and resolution.
- Assess the performance of Senior Engine and Deck Officers to ensure operational standards, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the fleet.
- Prepare regular reports on assigned vessels, tailored to reflect each vessel’s operational and technical condition.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of vessel equipment and specifications and recommend process improvements.
- Support Fleet Manager Engineers with troubleshooting and innovation by providing updates and insights into specialised technical areas through continuous training and study.

Person Specification
- Substantial technical experience in a similar role or capacity; shore-based experience is required, and seafaring experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge of vessel machinery.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to adapt and reprioritise responsibilities as necessary.
- Inquisitive with proactive problem-solving skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Skilled in building collaborative and constructive working relationships.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Open to constructive feedback and committed to ongoing professional development.
- IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
