About The Role
Senior Supervisor – Balfour Beatty – Connect Plus Services (CPS)
Location: Dartford, Leatherhead or South Mimms
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Supervisor to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) team, supporting the M25 London Orbital Motorway project.
CPS is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis, responsible for operating and maintaining the M25—Europe’s busiest motorway. Delivering over £100m of annual investment, alongside planned and reactive maintenance, this is a complex and high-profile network requiring robust and efficient planning.

What you'll be doing
To ensure safe, compliant and accurate delivery of schemes from pre-construction through to practical site completion, through the leadership / management of the Supervisor team and the associated processes, procedures and/or working practices. The role leads the Supervisors who support construction phase relationships and information CPS teams with the aim of ensuring we plan for safe and cost-effective solutions to maintain or improve the asset to the standards agreed. To ensure suitable engineering supervision of construction operations so to ensure CPS is confident Design, H&S, Asbestos & Temporary works are all being managed as per the expected design & process and contractual responsibilities.
The role holds responsibilities of both CDM regulations and NEC contract requirements, ensuring practical constructability reviews take place during pre-construction design stage and then ensuring inspection and physical witnessing onsite is undertaken. The role is independent from the framework contractors and is primarily focused on ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with the design, specifications and procedures set out.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Demonstrating and promoting the Connect Plus Services values of Safe & Well, Excellence, Reliable and Sustainable.
- Ensuring responsibilities and objectives set out within the annual Health and Safety Plan are achieved across projects within the portfolio, demonstrating leadership in the continuous improvement of team culture.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with Portfolio Managers, Construction Engineers, project teams, clients and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood, communicated and delivered.
Leading And Developing a Team Of Supervisors By
- Ensuring access to accurate and up-to-date information, clear work priorities and reporting requirements.
- Ensuring timely and effective written communications, including progress reporting, safety observations, DWB, EWN and safety engagement discussions.
- Managing resource allocation and work scheduling to maximise utilisation and delivery performance.
- Managing PDRs, audits, competency development and training requirements.
- Driving consistently high standards of performance, productivity, quality and safety.
- Sharing knowledge, best practice and resources across the Project Delivery Team to maximise efficiencies and reduce business risk.

Contributing To The Integrated Delivery Team By
- Maintaining high standards of safety and quality through the monitoring of construction works.
- Leading the resolution of technical and operational issues through effective coordination with project teams and supervisors.
- Developing design understanding to strengthen the link between design development and technical construction delivery on site.
Who we're looking for
- Experience and ability to lead and manage effectively supervision / construction teams.
- Strong ability to drive continuous improvement and best industry practise within the team
- Relevant knowledge of engineering and knowledge of what ‘good looks like’
- Drive and a desire to deliver excellence.
- Experience of the design and construction of highway infrastructure projects
- Good written, client-facing and communication skills
- Diligent, proactive and thorough approach to detail.
- Collaborative and practical approach to problem solving
- Knowledge of the Design Manual Road and Bridges and Specification for Highway Works
- Experience in carrying out duties of NEC supervisor
- Good knowledge of traffic management and temporary works
- Civil Engineering / Construction qualification
- Relevant knowledge of engineering and knowledge of what ‘good looks like’
- A working understanding of other engineering and construction disciplines, along with a willingness to challenge ‘the norm`
