Salary: Up to £80,000
Type: Permanent
I’m currently recruiting for a Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to join a growing, technically complex business operating within a highly regulated engineering environment.
This is a senior role combining strategic supply chain leadership, procurement management and transformation, with responsibility for developing a resilient and commercially effective supply chain capable of supporting both current programmes and future growth.
You’ll report into the Operations Director and lead an established procurement team, while developing the longer-term supply chain strategy, operating model and transformation roadmap.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of the overall supply chain and procurement strategy, working closely with Operations, Engineering, Programmes, Quality and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and owning a 3–5 year Supply Chain Strategy aligned with business growth plans.
- Defining the future supply chain operating model, capabilities, processes and resources.
- Leading and developing the Procurement and Buying team.
- Developing sourcing strategies across key categories and areas of expenditure.
- Establishing a strategic supplier management and segmentation framework.
- Improving supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness and risk.
- Developing supplier resilience and continuity strategies, including dual sourcing and supplier development.
- Identifying single-source dependencies, capacity constraints and long-lead risks.
- Driving improvements across supply chain processes, governance and ERP utilisation.
- Improving inventory management and reducing excess and obsolete stock.
- Delivering procurement cost-reduction and value-generation initiatives.
- Supporting bids and new programme opportunities with supplier, cost, capacity and risk inputs.
- Owning the supply chain risk register and ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
- Working closely with Quality on supplier qualification, audits and performance improvement.
- Acting as the senior Supply Chain and Procurement representative across the business.
- Working with international teams to identify opportunities for global sourcing, supplier leverage and best-practice sharing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
