How you'll make a difference
Join a specialist service helping children and young people aged 11-18 stay safer from harm outside the home. As a Senior Support Worker within the HOTH Intervention team, you will provide expert consultation, targeted intervention and trauma-informed support in response to criminal and sexual exploitation, peer-on-peer harm, serious youth violence and online harm.
Working within a centralised, non-case-holding team, you will support children already allocated to Family Help or Children in Care services. Alongside providing tailored support, you will offer guidance and practice support to colleagues, helping to strengthen safeguarding practice across the wider workforce.
What you will be doing
- Providing specialist analysis and consultation so contextual risks are identified, understood and responded to effectively. You will work closely with Family Help Lead Practitioners, Children in Care Social Workers, schools and partner agencies, helping shape time-limited interventions around individual children, peer groups, locations and emerging themes.
- Working under the direction of the HOTH Intervention Team Manager, you will use professional judgement to respond to complex safeguarding situations, managing risk effectively and escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Alongside your direct intervention work, you will provide day-to-day supervision and practice guidance to Support Workers, helping to develop skilled, reflective and consistent practice across the team.
- You will undertake specialist direct work, including safety planning, healthy relationships work, contextual assessments and Return Home Interviews.
- Utilising your professional expertise, you will advise practitioners and partners on intervention, escalation, risk management, case formulation and mapping.
- A key aspect of the role is delivering training, group work and preventative activity with the Violence Reduction Partnership, schools and regional partners.
- You will bring an organised and analytical approach to bespoke intervention plans, performance monitoring, accurate recording and timely safeguarding action.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
