The Vacancy
Are you a Support Worker looking for the next step in your career?
We are looking for 2 motivated Senior Support Workers to join our team at Ashland Road West. This is a great opportunity for experienced Support Workers to learn transferable skills, should you wish to go into a management role in the future. Please note we are not currently offering visa sponsorships.
The Service
Ashland Road West is a registered care home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, providing person-centred care for up to 10 residents with moderate to profound learning disabilities, physical disabilities, communication needs, and complex healthcare requirements. Location & Travel
Located 18 minutes from Mansfield town centre
- Drivers are highly desirable due to early shifts (7:00 AM) and limited public transport
- Nearest bus stop is a 10-minute walk and not reliable for early shifts
- Free on-site parking available for staff.
The Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll carry out the usual Support Worker duties while also supporting with managerial tasks which includes office-based work. Around 25% of your time will be dedicated to these managerial duties.
You will support our service users with personal care, as well as support at mealtimes and throughout the day to have adequate food and fluids, to spend time in their community, participate in leisure activities, go shopping, attend appointments, and administrate their finances and medication. Please note that due to the needs of our service users, there may be elements of moving & handling and risk management involved in the role; as such, you will need to be willing and able to undertake these duties.

In addition to this, some of your duties will include:
- Developing and writing person-centred support plans as well as reviewing and updating existing plans when required to an exceptional standard.
- Completing a wide range of admin tasks which ensure compliance with CQC regulations.
- Provide practice leadership, which includes observing colleagues’ practice and giving feedback.
- Assume responsibility for safeguarding adults.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of support to service users who may present behavioural challenges.

- You will be reliable and willing to go the extra mile to support both service users and colleagues
- Strong communication skills are vital for the role, along with the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion
- A robust and safe approach to managing risk positively is key

Working Hours
Our home is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, to meet the needs of our wonderful service users. You must commit to attend a mixture of shifts which are: early shifts (7:00 to 14:30), late shifts (14:30 to 21:00) and waking nights (20:45 to 07:15) across 7 days a week including weekends, bank holidays and Christmas and New Year.
