We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Sustainability Manager to join Greggs and lead the delivery of our sustainability strategy and ambitions. You'll play a key role in driving our Greggs Pledge commitments, ensuring sustainability is embedded across the business and helping us create long-term value for our customers, colleagues and communities.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll influence decision-making across the organisation, identifying sustainability risks and opportunities and ensuring environmental, social and governance priorities are integrated into business plans, operational activity and future growth.
As Greggs' sustainability lead, you'll oversee sustainability performance, reporting and governance ensuring we meet regulatory requirements and external commitments while maintaining a transparent, credible and data-driven approach. You'll also represent Greggs externally, building strong relationships and helping the business stay ahead of emerging trends, expectations and legislation.

About the role
- This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
- We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
- The base location for this role is Newcastle Upon Tyne
What you'll do
- Lead the development and delivery of Greggs' sustainability strategy, embedding sustainability priorities across the business and driving progress against our Greggs Pledge commitments
- Oversee sustainability governance, reporting and compliance, ensuring effective frameworks, clear accountability and alignment with regulatory and stakeholder requirements
- Drive sustainability performance through robust data, insight and reporting, enabling informed decision-making and continuous improvement across the organisation
- Maintain oversight of sustainability risks, opportunities and external commitments, ensuring Greggs remains prepared for emerging legislation, trends and stakeholder expectations
- Lead and develop a high-performing sustainability function and wider sustainability community, building capability, ownership and accountability across the business
- Represent Greggs externally on sustainability matters, building strong relationships with investors, customers, regulators, industry groups and other key stakeholders
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide expert guidance, influence decision-making and drive the delivery of Greggs' sustainability ambitions

About you
You will fit right into this role if you:
- Have significant experience leading sustainability programmes within a complex organisation, with a strong understanding of ESG, sustainability reporting, governance and compliance requirements
- Bring expertise across key sustainability topics, including climate, nature, responsible sourcing, human rights, modern slavery, animal welfare and sustainable supply chains
- Have experience managing sustainability reporting, disclosures, ratings and assessments, ensuring data is accurate, credible and aligned with stakeholder expectations
- Are highly analytical, with the ability to turn complex data and insights into meaningful reporting, informed decision-making and measurable performance improvements
- Can align sustainability priorities with commercial objectives, identifying emerging risks and opportunities and influencing long-term business strategy
- Are highly credible when working with senior stakeholders, with the ability to influence, challenge and build strong relationships both internally and externally
- Have experience leading and developing high-performing teams while building capability, ownership and engagement across a wider business community
- Are a strategic, commercially minded and forward-thinking leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about creating long-term sustainable value for people, communities and the business
