Senior Systems Engineer/Technical Lead Designate - Royal Navy Training & Simulation Programme

Location: Bristol (with occasional travel to Portsmouth)

Security Clearance: British National

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer or Technical Specialist looking to step into a Technical Lead role.

Working on a major Royal Navy training and simulation programme, you'll join a small team of four engineers and play a key role in the delivery of complex systems. This is a hands-on position where you'll contribute directly to engineering activities while developing your technical leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of complex training and simulation systems.
  • Provide technical guidance across systems engineering, integration, and testing activities.
  • Work closely with project teams and customers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support technical reviews, demonstrations, and acceptance activities.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and issues.
  • Contribute to solution development, integration, verification, and validation activities.

Essential Experience

  • Strong Systems Engineering background.
  • Recent experience delivering complex systems or technical solutions.
  • Experience across the engineering lifecycle, including integration and testing.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Simulation or training systems experience.
  • Defence, naval, aerospace, or other regulated industry experience.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical work packages.

  • Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
