In this pivotal role, you will lead the configuration, monitoring, security, troubleshooting, and maintenance of System Integration Environment (SIE) and SFTP services critical for seamless data exchange between CGI Advantage, external agencies, vendors, and enterprise applications. You will ensure all interfaces and file-transfer processes run reliably, securely, and in strict alignment with established business, security, and operational standards. Serving as a key technical expert in SIE/SFTP architecture, automation, monitoring, and production support, you will collaborate extensively across ERP application, cybersecurity, infrastructure, database, network, vendor, and business teams to resolve integration issues and deploy updated interfaces. Please note that this position supports the state's nightly batch schedule and is subject to callback on nights and weekends.

- Operational Monitoring & Support: Monitor SFTP connections, file transfers, interface processes, scheduled jobs, queues, logs, and overall system performance; resolve or escalate processing failures as needed.
- Security & Connection Configuration: Design, configure, and maintain secure file-transfer connections, including managing user accounts, SSH keys, certificates, authentication methods, directories, permissions, and encryption settings.
- Troubleshooting & Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve complex interface, connectivity, file-transfer, authentication, scheduling, data-exchange, and system-performance issues, performing thorough root-cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Testing: Coordinate the design, implementation, and testing of new or modified ERP interfaces and SFTP connections alongside application teams, vendors, external partners, and business stakeholders.
- Process Automation & Improvement: Develop and maintain operational processes, automation, monitoring, alerting, and reconciliation tools to enhance the reliability, security, and efficiency of SIE and SFTP services.
- Documentation & Asset Management: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including interface specifications, system configurations, standard support and recovery procedures, and SFTP connection inventories.
- Batch Operations & Callback Support: Actively monitor and support daily and nightly batch schedule operations, providing overnight monitoring, incident escalation, and problem solving when required.
- Technical Leadership & Incident Response: Provide senior-level technical guidance and leadership for SIE/SFTP operations, security reviews, system upgrades, incident response, disaster recovery efforts, and broader ERP integration initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
