Senior Systems Administrator
Southampton Area - Hybrid Working (1 day per week onsite once passed probation)
£50,000 - £60,000 PA
We're working with a well-established and highly successful technology business in the Southampton area to recruit an experienced Senior Systems Administrator. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation where you'll play a key role in maintaining, supporting and continually improving a complex hybrid IT infrastructure whilst acting as the senior technical escalation point for both internal systems and customer-facing managed services.
This is a broad, hands-on infrastructure role suited to someone who enjoys working across Microsoft technologies, networking, virtualisation, security and cloud services, whilst contributing to infrastructure projects, service improvements and technical strategy.
Reporting into senior IT leadership, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration, support and enhancement of the company's hybrid infrastructure, ensuring services remain secure, reliable and highly available.

Working closely with colleagues across IT, Professional Services and the wider business, you'll deliver technical projects, provide third-line support, automate routine processes and help shape the ongoing development of the company's infrastructure estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support a hybrid Microsoft infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and networking issues.
- Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, SharePoint Online, Teams and Defender
- Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and related services
- Configure and support networking technologies including firewalls, switches, VPNs, VLANs and remote access solutions
- Maintain backup, disaster recovery, patch management and vulnerability management processes
- Support customer infrastructure projects, migrations and technical implementations.
- Deliver infrastructure improvements through automation, scripting and technical documentation
- Assist with business continuity planning, security initiatives and ISO 27001 aligned technical controls

Key technical requirements:
- Microsoft 365 including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, SharePoint Online, Teams, Defender and Purview
- Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Microsoft Hyper-V (VMware experience also beneficial)
- Firewalls, networking, VPNs, VLANs and general infrastructure administration
- Endpoint security, EDR/XDR, patch management and vulnerability management
- Backup technologies such as Veeam or Acronis
- Remote Desktop Services and hybrid Microsoft environments
- Third-line infrastructure support within a complex enterprise or managed services environment
Any experience with Azure, AWS, PowerShell, SQL Server, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), DevOps, Linux, macOS, IIS, SAN storage, SIEM technologies or ISO 27001 would be advantageous
