Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Cambourne, United Kingdom (Hybrid, minimum 2 days onsite)
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join a growing technology organisation developing next-generation connected device and IoT solutions.
As part of a modern Product Operating Model, you will work within a cross-functional product team alongside Product Managers, Technology Leads, Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, and Integration Specialists to deliver innovative customer-focused products.
This role will provide significant influence across product discovery and delivery activities while contributing to complex multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage system requirements across hardware, embedded software, integration, and test disciplines.
- Contribute to system architecture and solution design.
- Support protocol definition and technical decision-making.
- Lead complex problem-solving activities and proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Participate in field testing, verification, and validation activities.
- Work closely with embedded, hardware, integration, cloud, and software engineering teams.
- Support product development throughout the entire lifecycle from concept through delivery.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across product teams.

Required Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in systems engineering for multidisciplinary products.
- Experience with communication products, embedded systems, and hardware development.
- Strong understanding of complex IoT solutions.
- Proven experience working on technically challenging cross-functional projects.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience
- Linux environments.
- Atlassian tools and/or Azure DevOps.
- Cloud-based IoT infrastructure.
- Backend systems and serverless architectures.
- Agentic AI technologies for innovation and product discovery.
- Programming experience in C, C#, Java, or Python.
- RF communications including BLE, WiFi, LTE-M, and LoRa.
