Senior Tax Accountant
We're working with a well-established, independent accountancy practice in Leeds to recruit an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join their friendly and supportive tax team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced personal tax professional who enjoys taking ownership of their own client portfolio, building strong client relationships and delivering a high-quality service.
The role has a strong compliance focus, so we're looking for someone who is technically confident, able to manage their own workload and comfortable dealing directly with clients without requiring significant day-to-day supervision. Alongside the core compliance work, there will be opportunities to identify tax planning opportunities and support the Tax Manager and Tax Partners with ad hoc advisory work.
Overview:
- You'll take ownership of a varied portfolio including private clients, company directors and accounting clients, with potential exposure to trusts, estates and partnerships.
- You'll be responsible for managing the tax return process from start to finish, ensuring information is obtained, returns are prepared accurately and deadlines are met. You'll use your technical knowledge to identify issues, answer client queries and recognise opportunities where additional tax planning or advice may be beneficial.
- There is also the opportunity to support and mentor junior members of the team and work alongside senior colleagues on more complex client matters.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
