Role Purpose
The Senior Tax Manager - UK & Ireland provides strategic and commercial tax support while ensuring a robust governance and compliance framework.
Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, the role provides commercial and pragmatic tax leadership with particular focus on corporate tax and VAT, whilst also supporting the business with plastic packaging tax, sugar tax, customs and employment tax matters where needed.
Success in this role means delivering a robust control environment, managing tax risk effectively, driving continuous improvement and digitalisation of tax processes, and translating tax requirements into practical business solutions. The role is expected to build strong relationships across Finance, Supply Chain, Legal and Commercial teams, proactively identify risks and opportunities, influence key business decisions, and ensure tax considerations are embedded in strategic initiatives, business transformation projects and day-to-day operations across the UK and Ireland.
Key Activities
- Lead the corporate tax and VAT agenda across the UK and Ireland.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of tax compliance obligations, working with both internal teams and external advisors where appropriate.
- Support statutory reporting, tax provisioning and forecasting processes.
- Provide transfer pricing support across the UK and Ireland, partnering with Group Tax and external advisers to ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies, documentation requirements and intercompany transaction governance.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess business impacts.
- Provide tax advice on commercial, operational and strategic projects.
- Support tax audits, enquiries and interactions with HMRC and Irish Revenue.
- Maintain an effective tax governance and control framework.
- Act as subject matter expert for UK and Irish VAT matters, including supply chain, commercial and cross-border transactions.
- Provide support on other taxes including plastic packaging tax, customs, sugar tax and employment taxes.
- Driving tax process simplification, digitalisation and the effective use of SAP and tax technology tools to improve compliance, reporting and risk management.
- Partner with regional and global tax teams to ensure alignment with Danone tax policies and objectives.
- Support business restructurings, organisational change projects and M&A activity where required.

About you
We would like you to demonstrate the following key skills:
- Technical Tax Expertise: Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax and VAT, with the ability to apply technical principles pragmatically within a commercial business environment.
- Business Partnering & Influencing: Able to build credibility with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making through clear, practical and solution-focused advice.
- Risk Management & Governance: Experience of identifying, assessing and managing tax risks whilst maintaining robust controls, processes and governance frameworks.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex tax matters into clear messages for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Professionally qualified tax adviser and/or accountant (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).

Salary Bracket
£70-75,000.
