Tax Senior / Assistant Manager (Corporate Tax / Private Client / VAT)
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne & Alnwick | Hybrid Working Available

Overview
A well-established organisation with a diverse portfolio of private, corporate, and trust interests is looking to appoint a Tax Senior / Assistant Manager to join its finance team. This is a varied role offering exposure across corporate, personal, trust, and estate taxation. Working closely with the Senior Tax Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring tax compliance, supporting tax planning initiatives, and providing accurate financial information across a complex group structure.
The position would suit a tax professional looking to broaden their experience across multiple tax disciplines while working closely with both internal stakeholders and external advisers in a collaborative and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax compliance
- Prepare and oversee VAT, CIS, and stamp duty compliance activities
- Ensure statutory tax returns are completed accurately and submitted on time
- Liaise with external tax advisers and internal finance teams
- Support tax planning initiatives and monitor upcoming legislative changes
- Prepare tax estimates for budgeting and quarterly reporting processes
- Monitor upcoming tax liabilities and support cash flow forecasting
- Ensure tax payments and filings are completed within statutory deadlines
- Provide clear tax guidance and information to non-finance stakeholders
- Support the Senior Tax Controller with ongoing compliance and advisory work

Requirements
- Previous experience within Tax, either in practice or industry
- Strong understanding of UK tax compliance across multiple tax areas
- Experience preparing tax returns and supporting statutory compliance
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and external advisers
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to explain complex tax matters in a clear and practical way
- Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

Desirable
- ACA, ACCA, CTA, or ATT qualified (or working towards)
- Experience with trusts, estates, or private client taxation
- Experience within a corporate or multi-entity environment
- Knowledge of cash flow forecasting and tax planning
- Experience working with external advisers and regulatory bodies
