About the Opportunity

We are supporting a leading independent advisory and accountancy firm with a reputation for delivering specialist tax, accounting, and consulting services to ambitious businesses and private clients across the Midlands. The business has experienced significant growth and is recognised for its collaborative culture, people-focused approach, and commitment to professional development.

As part of its continued expansion, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior tax manager to lead a specialist Private Client & Trust Services team, delivering exceptional advice to individuals, families, trustees, and high-net-worth clients.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position within a Midlands fast-growing and established Private Client & Trust Services function.

You'll work closely with Partners, act as a trusted adviser to clients, oversee complex compliance and advisory work, and play a key role in developing both the team and the wider service offering.

Key Responsibilities

Technical

  • Lead the Personal and Trust Tax compliance service.
  • Review and sign off Personal and Trust Tax Returns.
  • Deliver advisory services relating to:
    • Trusts
    • Inheritance Tax (IHT)
    • Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
    • Offshore Trusts
    • International Tax Matters
  • Oversee:
    • 60-Day CGT Returns
    • Trust Registration Service requirements
    • Trust IHT Returns
    • CRS Reporting
  • Act as the key contact for clients, HMRC, and professional advisers.
  • Manage complex client matters and associated risks.

Leadership & Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Private Client & Trust Services team.
  • Manage workflow, utilisation, WIP, recoveries, and billing.
  • Support recruitment, appraisals, training, and development initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement and maintain high-quality service standards.

Business Development

  • Build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Support networking activities and departmental growth.
  • Contribute to technical thought leadership and marketing initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to expand advisory services and client relationships.

Requirements

Essential

  • CTA, ACA, or ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant experience within Private Client Tax and Trust Services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • Personal Tax
    • Trust Taxation
    • Inheritance Tax
    • Capital Gains Tax
  • Previous team leadership or management experience.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent stakeholder and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex advisory assignments and multiple priorities.
